PMG-certified Greek Rarities Highlight A. Karamitsos Sale

Greek notes, including historic ones from World War II, are in the spotlight in the September auction.

Hundreds of historic banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are featured in an upcoming sale presented by renowned Greece-based auction house A. Karamitsos. Online bidding for Auction 698 (Part A and Part B) is already underway, with the sale concluding September 11, 2022.

Leading the sale is a Greece / Ionian Islands ND (1941) 500 Drachmai graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated EPQ (Part A, lot 6574). This note dates to World War II, when the Ionian Islands, located off the west coast of Greece, were occupied by the Axis powers, which included Italy. This note has a starting price of €3,500 (about $3,500 USD).
