Karamitsos Sale Includes 19th Century Rarities Graded by PMG and NGC

Hundreds of banknotes and coins certified by PMG and NGC are being offered in the December auction.

Over 300 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) and over 300 coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are part of a Karamitsos auction in December. Bidding is already underway for Auction 708 (Part A and Part B), which will be held December 10-11, 2022.

PMG-certified banknotes

The auction's top lot is a Greece, National Bank ND (1870-82) 100 Drachmai Specimen graded PMG 30 Very Fine (Part A, lot 6475). Printed during the reign of King George I, it is one of only two Specimens for this catalog number in the PMG Population Report. This note has a starting price of €15,000 (about $15,000).

  • a Kingdom of Greece, Ministry of Finance 1918 5 Drachmai graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated (Part A, lot 6617) with a starting price of €3,000 (about $3,000)

NGC-certified coins

The top coin in the auction is a Greece 1851 5 Drachmas graded NGC MS 62 (Part A, lot 6083). It shows Otto, the Bavarian prince who ruled as Greece's first king from 1832 until he was driven from power in 1862. It has a starting price of €10,000 (about $10,000).
