PMG Registry Featured Set: $10 Federal Reserve Notes

Posted on 11/15/2022

This month’s featured set, which belongs to KSUSA, has over 300 notes from a timespan of nearly a century.

This month, we present a set by a collector who is a major influencer in the PMG collecting community. KSUSA has risen in the ranks in countless PMG Registry sets over the past few years. He currently sits in the #1 spot for total PMG Registry score — over 1.9 million total points for all of his sets! He is a superstar with his #1 ranked $10 Federal Reserve Note District Set, found here.

The reason why we chose this particular set is because the BEP recently made a big announcement. They are redesigning Federal Reserve Notes beginning with the $10 note in 2026. Following the $10 will be the $50 in 2028, $20 in 2030, $5 in 2032 and the $100 in 2034.

Called the Catalyst redesign, most notes will feature enhanced features for the visually impaired, such as raised tactile features (RTF) applied on each new design by an intaglio printing process. These new features will apply to all new notes except for the $1 and $2 bills. Discussion for this project has been going on for years. It is exciting to see that it will come to fruition soon. Security is always a concern, so research and testing are in process to minimize counterfeit attempts as well.

Now, let’s focus on KSUSA’s stellar $10 set. Spanning back to 1928, this set category is a challenging one, and 100% completion is daunting for even the most avid and wealthy collectors. To hit the 50% set completion mark alone is quite a feat, and KSUSA is at 63% right now. This collector has a very comfortable first-place lead, sitting at over 103,000 points now! It is worth noting he has taken the time to upload images for all 315 notes in this set and has also uploaded images for all notes in all of his PMG sets! This is no easy task, to be sure. Check out his extensive slideshow for this set, with many top-pops, found here.
