Hundreds of PMG-certified Notes and NGC-certified Coins from Across the Globe Offered in Trigometric Auction

Posted on 1/15/2024

World coins and Malaysian notes are the top rarities available in the January sale.

A huge selection of coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are being offered in an upcoming Trigometric Auctions sale. Online bidding is already underway for the Trigometric January 2024 Auction - Session 1 & 2, which will be held January 20-21, 2024.

The top lot in the sale is a group of eight Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1986-89) Ringgit Specimens (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000) graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated to PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 2, lot 2530). This lot has an estimate of RM 130,000 to RM 160,000 (about $28,000 to $34,500). These Malaysian notes are highly sought after design types, and it is especially rare to find the whole series of denominations together with matching specimen numbers like in this coveted group.

Meanwhile, the top NGC-certified lot in the sale is a Great Britain 1900 Trade Dollar graded NGC MS 62 (Session 1, lot 1387), which has an estimate of RM 28,000 to RM 40,000 (about $6,000 to $8,600). These coins were used to facilitate international trade with China and other countries in East Asia. The British Trade Dollar symbolizes both regions, with the obverse featuring the standing figure of Britannia holding a trident and Union Jack shield in the foreground and a merchant ship in background. The reverse features an Asian ornamental flower, Chinese characters and Jawi script. There are only 21 numerically graded examples of this particular coin listed in the NGC Census, with only three graded higher.
