PMG Registry Featured Set: Lebanon

BanknoteNews.com recently shared that a new variety of the 2023 100,000 Pound note for Lebanon (from the Banque Du Liban) should be released soon. As such, this month, we feature a comprehensive PMG Registry collection, a Banque Du Liban 1964-date set, found here.

Collector Hassan S. Bazzi has established a dominant presence in the Lebanon category of the PMG Registry. Winner of a 2023 PMG Registry award for his comprehensive set here, he has another #1 remarkable set, which he has named Banque du Liban HSB Collection – Complete.

Starting this set in just January of 2023, Hassan has quickly climbed to first place, where he currently sits atop 25 other sets. At 98% complete, this impressive and colorful assembly of notes is loaded with several Top Pops, including an astonishing number of notes that are graded PMG 70★ Gem Uncirculated EPQ, such as the note pictured above! This collector has also taken the time to write a thoughtful introduction. He shares some personal comments on collecting these notes and includes some interesting details: “I started building this collection in 2010 when I saw one Lebanese Lira (issued in the 1980s) on eBay that I used to use when I was a small kid...”

About the note pictured below, he explains: “A commemorative banknote, 50,000 livres pick 98, was issued in 2015 to celebrate 70 years anniversary of the Lebanese Army (1945-2015). This was the first polymer note in the Arab world that has one face in a vertical direction...”
