PMG-certified Australian Banknote Top Highlight in Stack's Bowers Auction

More than 900 PMG-certified world banknotes are offered in two sessions in late February.

From Australia to India, an impressive collection of world banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) is available in two Stack’s Bowers auction sessions. The World Collectors Choice Online Auction includes Part 1 on February 26 and Part 2 on February 27, 2024.

Among the highlights in this auction is a Commonwealth of Australia ND (1953-60) £1 Specimen graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated (Part 1, lot 71041) with an estimate of $3,000 to $5,000. This banknote, featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, was meant to symbolize Australia's transition into the modern era under her reign. It is one of only six Specimens of this catalog number in the PMG Population Report.

  • a French India, Banque de l’Indochine ND (1946) 5 Roupies graded PMG 25 Very Fine (lot 71477) with an estimate of $800 to $1,200
  • an India, Reserve Bank ND (1937) 1,000 Rupees graded PMG 10 Very Good (lot 71636) with an estimate of $750 to $1,250

  • a Straits Settlements / British Administration 1935 5 Dollars graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine (lot 72441) with an estimate of $600 to $900
  • a Malta, Central Bank 1967 (ND 1968) £5 Color Trial Specimen graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 72059) with an estimate of $600 to 800
  • a Trinidad & Tobago / British Administration 1939-42 5 Dollars graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine (lot 72466) with an estimate of $500 to $1,000
