Submitters Using International Shipping Must Designate Themselves as 'Importer of Record'

Posted on 3/6/2024

Avoid an administrative fee by following this procedure for using international shipping.

If you are using an international shipping service to ship collectibles to the US headquarters of Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®), Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) or Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), please be aware that you must designate yourself as the "importer of record" and that you are responsible for all customs duties, taxes and fees for your submission.

If NGC, PMG or CGC incur any customs duties, taxes or fees related to your submission, these costs will be added to your invoice, plus an administrative fee of $25. You can avoid this administrative fee by ensuring that the shipping company bills you for both the transportation costs as well as any duties, taxes and fees. Below are screenshots from the FedEx and UPS online shipping tools that show the relevant areas highlighted in yellow.
