March is the month of crossovers and collaborations, and Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) can’t wait to get started! From thrilling “what if?” comic scenarios to re-introductions of classic video games, here’s what we have to look forward to this coming month.

Upcoming Comic Releases

Aliens: What If? #1 – March 6

Marvel expands its What If line of comics outside of its own universe of superheroes for the first time in this new adventure!

What if… Carter Burke had lived? For years, fans of James Cameron’s legendary Aliens questioned whether Carter Burke had actually survived the traumatic events on Hadley’s Hope. Paul Reiser — the original actor behind Burke — and his son Leon join forces to tell the tale of a man who should have died, and the twist of events that leads to his eventual escape.

This first issue of Aliens: What If? marks the first instance of Marvel using its What If? series outside of its original superhero universe. This potentially opens the door for Marvel to release future What If titles based on other properties, such as Star Wars. What we’ll see in the future is still a mystery, but it brings forth some exciting possibilities.

Magic: The Gathering: Fallout – March 8

Crossovers continue with Magic: The Gathering’s newest Commander set!

Wizards of the Coast has seen frequent success with its Universes Beyond crossover sets, such as Tales of Middle Earth and Doctor Who, and that fruition shows no signs of stopping as they continue with Fallout.

MTG players will be treated to four different preconstructed Fallout-themed decks, each one with unique monsters and color identities. Survive the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout with one of four decks: Scrappy Survivors, Science!, Mutant Menace and Hail, Caesar. In addition, exclusive Collector boosters will hold exclusive cards featuring some iconic characters from the Fallout series, including Vault Boy.

Upcoming Sports Card Releases

2023 Panini Illusions Football – March 13

The 2023 NFL season may have come to a close last month with the culmination of Super Bowl LVIII, but football fans still have a few more sports card sets left in the huddle that are ready to break! In mid-March, Panini's annual Illusion set returns to the gridiron, giving NFL fans another chance to chase after some of 2023's biggest stars and prized rookies like Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud.

The 2023 Panini Illusions checklist once again emphasizes a variety of colors and parallels among the 100-card base set. Foil cards lay the foundation of the series, while rare inserts and serial numbered parallels will keep collectors coming back for more. Current veterans, first-year players and legends of the past all feature in a superb insert lineup that includes Holo Heroes, King of Cards, Illusionists and more.

Collectors will also chase rare, must-have autograph and autograph memorabilia cards showcasing the 2023 rookie class and established NFL greats. The autograph series includes Rookie Signs and First Impressions for first-year talent and Elusive Ink returns, featuring autographs from players who rarely sign. Collectors can expect plenty out of each Hobby Box purchase, including 3 Autographs, 2 Memorabilia cards, 5 #'d Trophy Collection parallels and 10 Acetate or Microetched inserts or parallels per box, on average.

Contra: Operation Galuga – March 12

A reimagining of the original run-'n'-gun action game from the 1980s is coming to multiple gaming platforms this month!

When the Red Falcon terrorist group invades the Galuga Archipelago, it’s up to Bill Rizer and Lance Bean of the Contra unit to neutralize the threat. Dune: Part Two – March 1

Return to Arrakis in this thrilling conclusion to Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s “Dune”!

Paul Atreides and Lady Jessica have survived the hostile takeover of Arrakis by the Harkonnen house and have sought shelter with the Fremen — Arrakis’ native tribe. During his time with them, Paul strives to fit in with the tribe and earn their trust; meanwhile, he begins to develop strange visions depicting an incoming holy war. At the same time, Jessica embarks on a spiritual journey to convince others that the prophecy of a mother and son bringing prosperity to Arrakis is true.

Together, Paul and Jessica may be able to wrest control of Arrakis from the power-hungry Harkonnens. However, many obstacles — including Harkonnen ambushes, devastating secrets and budding romance — stand in their way.

The fate of Arrakis will be decided when Dune: Part Two is released in theaters on March 1!
