CGC's Baltimore Comic-Con Show Summary

During Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th, the streets of the historic city of Baltimore were very busy indeed! Not only did the Baltimore Ravens have a home game that weekend, but Saturday morning thousands of people were standing on the sidewalks and overpasses cheering on the runners in the Baltimore Marathon and on Sunday hundreds of people watched as a horse-drawn carriage walked through the streets carrying a facsimile of the body of one of its most famous residents, Edgar Allan Poe. The carriage then made its way to Westminster Hall to celebrate the bicentennial year of Poe's birth by giving him the funeral he never had one hundred and sixty years ago. But, Poe wasn't the only writer or artist being celebrated that weekend for this was also the weekend of the biggest Baltimore Comic-Con ever and CGC was there to help with the festivities.

Sandwiched between the Long Beach and New York shows you might take a guess that this show may have been a little slower than usual, but the truth was this show had a lot of meat! CGC received a lot of vintage books at the show this year for regular submission so it is safe to say this show is a great place to attend if your looking for older books as well as more modern ones.

George Perez, Brian Michael Bendis, David Finch, Marc Silvestri, Stan Sakai, and J. Scott Campbell were just a few of the writers and artists who attended this show and with a guest list a mile long, dozens if not hundreds of people took advantage of our popular Signature Series program. One of the more popular books submitted for Signature Series at the show was the blank-covered frame-bordered variant of The Marvels Project. Except when they were submitted to CGC they now had beautiful sketches on them done by one of the many talented artists at the show witnessed by CGC. CGC has two more shows this year, the one day Tampa Comic Book and Toy Convention on November 7th in our home state of Florida, and the two day Virginia Comicon show which will be held in the historic city of Richmond on both November 21st and 22nd.
