Modern Chinese Varieties: 1985 Gold 100Y Confucius

This is the 26th installment of our monthly column devoted to modern Chinese varieties.

This month's featured coin is the 1985 G100Y Confucius coin that comes with and without a serif on the bottom of the “1” of the date on the obverse of the coin.

Below are photos that show the date with the bottom serif (Photos 1 & 2).

Both examples share a common reverse featuring Confucius as the central device (Photo 5).
