PMG-Graded Notes from Muszynski and Dauer Collections Being Sold in April

More than 150 banknotes that were certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) from two important collections are being offered in a Spink auction in London, April 17-18. They include 97 PMG-certified banknotes from the Michael Muszynski Collection of Sub-Saharan Africa and 62 PMG-certified banknotes from the Joanne and Edward Dauer Collection of Burma, Ceylon and India.

The Muszynski notes were graded during PMG's first on-site grading event in London in January 2019. They are a vibrant collection of various denominations of the franc, underscoring France's historical ties with countries such as Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon and Mali.

The top lot is expected to be a French Equatorial Africa 1940 1,000 Francs, graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated. Spink estimates the note will sell for £12,000 to £16,000 (about $15,800 to $21,100 USD).

In the Spink auction, the Muszynski collection is being sold in lots 326 to 471.

The Spink auction features banknotes from the Joanne and Edward Dauer Collection of Burma, Ceylon and India. Being sold in lots 539 to 600, this collection was assembled and graded over a number of years.

Highlights include a Reserve Bank of India, Burma Undated (1937) 100 Rupees, graded PMG 25 Very Fine, and an India Undated (1928) 1,000 Rupees, graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine. The notes have estimates of £20,000 to £25,000, and £12,000 to £16,000, respectively.

In addition to the Muszynski notes, PMG also had the opportunity at the London on-site event in January to certify over 250 selections from Part I of the Ibrahim Salem Collection of British Commonwealth Banknotes. These selections can be viewed at PMGnotes.com/salem.

Spink is offering the Salem notes in a standalone sale on April 17. The top 45 lots in the auction are PMG-certified, including a Bermuda 1941 Five Pounds, with Serial Number 1, estimated at £65,000 to £70,000.
