Name of comic: New Mutants #26

Comic publisher: Marvel Comics

Date: April 1985

Variants: Canadian Edition

What makes it special? This book features the origin and first appearance of Legion (David Haller). He is the mutant son of Professor Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller. Legion takes the role of an antihero who has a severe mental illness that includes a form of multiple personality disorder. Each of his alternate personas controls one of his many mutant powers.

Why is it interesting now? “Legion” was developed into a television series for FX and based on the character from Marvel Comics. The show is returning to FX on June 24th for its third and final season.

Did you know? Legion’s power levels are considered to be virtually unmatched among mutants. X-Men comics reveal that mutant powers could be “tiered” into various levels, and Legion’s powers were classified at the top Omega rank. The true limits of Legion’s powers have yet to be fully explored.
