The HKINF World Currency Signature Auction will be held online and at the Mira Hong Kong Hotel in the city’s Kowloon district.

The note with the top estimate, $200,000 to $300,000 (USD), is a People’s Republic of China 1965 10 Yuan Progressive Proof graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated. A progressive proof is one created with a partial lithographic print used as a step in the development of the final version. A similar design was used for a circulated 10 Yuan but that version had fewer medals on the citizens on the front of the note.

A PMG-certified lot with an estimate of $60,000 to $80,000 (USD) is a People’s Republic of China “Artist’s Rendition” 1965 20 Yuan. An Artist’s Rendition is a hand-drawn presentation of a proposed note that was never issued.

A much older note has an estimate of $40,000 to $50,000 (USD). The China Yuan Dynasty 1264-1341 2 Kuan is graded PMG 12 Fine NET.

Another significant note is a Straits Settlements Undated (1875-99) 100 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated NET and estimated at $35,000 to $40,000 (USD). The Straits Settlements consisted of British territories in Southeast Asia from 1826 to 1946.
