PMG-graded Notes & NGC-graded Coins Excel at September A. Karamitsos Auction

The top lot was a PMG-certified Bank of Greece 1878-83 10 Drachmai, which realized €17,500.

Notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) and coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) highlighted the A. Karamitsos Auction held on September 7, 2019. Indeed, most of the significant notes and coins in the auction carried a PMG or NGC grade.

The top lot in the auction was a Bank of Greece 1878-83 10 Drachmai note, which realized €17,500 (about $19,000 USD). Graded PMG 12 Fine, this colorful note is black, blue and red with the Arms of King George I on the left, a portrait of Georgios Stavros at top center and Nereid at lower right.

The next highest-realizing lot was a set of 12 Greece bronze medals, all NGC-certified and graded NGC MS 63 BN PL and higher, which sold for €12,000 (about $13,000 USD). All but three have the Prooflike designation.
