Over 200 NGC-certified Coins and 70 PMG-certified Notes in October Polish Auction

Posted on 10/14/2019

Once a year, Polish auction house Antykwariat Numizmatyczny hosts an event auction focused on numismatic rarities.

Antykwariat Numizmatyczny, Poland’s largest auction house, will offer many world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) at its annual Jubilee sale, being held October 26, 2019, in Warsaw. The auction will also feature many notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®).

One NGC-certified highlight is a Germany 1756 EC 10 Taler graded NGC MS 62. The obverse features August III, King of Poland from 1734 until 1763. This rare coin is the largest gold coin produced during his reign, during which crown mints did not operate in Poland. Rather, the king began minting crown coins in Saxon mints. The starting bid is 39,000 PLN (about $10,000 USD).

Another NGC-certified highlight is a Poland 1922 Proba 100 Marks graded NGC MS 62. This gold coin is a rare interwar sample featuring Józef Piłsudski. On the reverse, the number 100 and the year 1922 are encircled by a wreath, and there is a concave inscription, PRÓBA, in the upper right. Of the few known examples of this coin minted in gold, this is the only one with the PRÓBA inscription. The starting bid is 100,000 PLN (about $25,400 USD).
