Rare NGC-certified World Coins Featured in Stack’s Bowers Sale in August

A pair of NGC-graded coins from Italy and Spain each have an estimate of at least $75,000.

Stack's Bowers Galleries will hold several auctions in Las Vegas, Nevada, in early August featuring NGC-graded vintage coins from all over the world. Online bidding for Session C, which includes many important NGC-certified world coins, is now open, with the auction ending on August 6, 2020.

Among the most anticipated coins in the sale is an Italy 1901R 5 Lire graded NGC MS 60. This rare coin is from a mintage of only 114 that were used as presentation pieces. It is also the first coin to be minted under King Vittorio Emanuele III's nearly half century of rule, which began in 1900 after an anarchist assassinated his father. This coin has an estimated sales price of $75,000 to $100,000 USD.

Another highlight of the sale is a Spain 1521 2 Principats graded NGC XF 45. This coin from the Barcelona Mint features future Spanish Emperor Charles V and his mother Juana la Loca. According to Stack's Bowers, this extremely rare coin is the finest known of this desirable type. It has an estimated sales price of $75,000 to $100,000 USD.
