The sale features an impressive selection of vintage Canadian notes graded by PMG.

World banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) – including an impressive selection of Canadian rarities – are being offered in Karisik Auction’s Winter Sale on December 12, 2020. Online bidding is now open.

One of the most anticipated notes in the sale is a rare Canada, Bank of Canada 1937 $50 graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated that is estimated between CA$20,000 to CA$25,000 (about $15,300 to $19,100 USD). Of the 100,000 1937 $50 notes featuring the Osborne-Towers signature combination, only about 100 are known to have survived. This high-grade example is one of five recognized in uncirculated condition.

Meanwhile, a China, Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corp. 1922 10 Dollars - Chefoo graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated also has an estimate of CA$20,000 to CA$25,000 (about $15,300 to $19,100 USD). Chefoo’s adjacency to the main British trading port spurred such large capital flows through the small city that HSBC established multiple offices and created a special series of Chefoo note designs. The note has the low serial number of 00725, with only 9 other examples recorded in the PMG Population Report.
