One of the stars of the sale is a China 1906 Pattern Tael (K-934) graded NGC MS 64, which has an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000. Struck at the Tientsin Mint six years after its re-establishment in 1900, the Tael was meant to replace the standard Mace-Candareens. While its introduction into widespread circulation ultimately failed due to political turmoil, its design influenced the later Imperial issues of 1908.

Although it is a pattern coin, it is difficult to find an example that is so well-preserved. This coin also has an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000 USD.
