PMG-certified Notes from Panama Expected to Top Spink Sale

A group of three rare Panamanian banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) is the top lot in Spink's World Banknotes NYINC auction. Bidding is already underway for the sale, being held on January 15, 2021.

The Panama, Banco Central de Emision 1941 notes (5, 10 and 20 Balboas) graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine to PMG 40 Extremely Fine have an estimate of £45,000 to £50,000 (about $61,000 to $67,800 USD).

Other PMG-certified highlights of the sale include:

• a Canada - French Administration 1729-49 24 Livres Card Money graded PMG 25 Very Fine, with an estimate of £17,000 to £20,000 (about $23,100 to $27,100 USD)
• a Sarawak, Government of Sarawak 1919 1 Dollar with Serial Number 2 graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine, with an estimate of £18,000 to £20,000 (about $24,400 to $27,100 USD)
• an Iraq, Government of Iraq 1931 (ND 1941) 1/4 Dinar graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine, with an estimate of £8,000 to £12,000 (about $10,900 to $16,300 USD)
• a Sarawak ND (1945) 1 Cent Printer's Design graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated, with an estimate of £5,000 to £7,000 (about $6,800 to $9,500 USD)
• a Sarawak ND (1945) 5 Cents Printer's Design graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated, with an estimate of £6,000 to £8,000 (about $8,100 to $10,800 USD)
• a Sarawak ND (1945) 10 Cents Printer's Design graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated, with an estimate of £6,000 - £8,000 (about $8,100 to $10,800 USD)
• a Specimen and an issued example of an Egypt, National Bank 1926-30 1 Pound, both graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine, with an estimate of £5,000 - £6,000 (about $6,800 to $8,100 USD)
• a Great Britain, Bank of England ND (1962) 1 Pound Printer's Design graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ, with an estimate of £5,000 - £6,000 (about $6,800 to $8,100 USD)
• a South Africa - Boer War 1900 Siege of Mafeking 1 Pound graded PMG 62 Uncirculated, with an estimate of £3,000 - £3,500 (about $4,100 to $4,700 USD)
