Vintage NGC-certified Italian Coins and World Rarities Featured in San Marino Sale

NGC-certified coins in the Aurora Auctions sale represent more than 600 years of Italian history.

More than 400 coins from Italy and elsewhere that have been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are being offered in a sale by San Marino-based Aurora Auctions Numismatic Shop and Gold Market. Online bidding is already underway for Auction 23, which is taking place October 9, 2021.

The star of the sale is a coin issued in Livorno, which is in the Tuscany region of Italy. Minted during the reign of Cosimo III de Medici, who was the penultimate Medici Grand Duke of Tuscany, this Italy 1718 Livorno Doppia graded NGC MS 63+ (lot 73) has a starting price of €15,000 (about $18,000 USD).

On the coin’s obverse are Cosimo III's name and the coat of arms of the Medici family, which ruled Florence and Tuscany from 1434 through 1737. The reverse displays a flowering rose bush.

  • an Italy 1925 100 Lire graded NGC PF 64 Matte (lot 200) with a starting price of €8,500 EUR (about $10,000 USD)
  • an Italy 1905 100 Lire graded NGC MS 61 (lot 198) with a starting price of €7,500 (about $8,900 USD)
  • a pair of Czechoslovakia 1972 Kremnitz Albrecht von Wallenstein 5 and 10 Ducat coins graded NGC MS 69 and NGC MS 66 respectively with original box and certificate number 416 of 500 (lot 301) a starting price of €7,500 (about $8,900 USD)
  • an Italy 1861 FIRENZE 5 Lire graded NGC MS 63 (lot 179) with a starting price of €7,000 (about $8,300 USD)
  • an Italy 1861 5 Lire graded NGC MS 62 (lot 521) with a starting price of €6,000 (about $7,100 USD)
  • an Italy 1936 100 Lire graded NGC MS 64 (lot 201) with a starting price of €5,000 (about $5,900 USD)
  • an Italy 1936 50 Lire graded NGC MS 63 (lot 203) with a starting price of €5,000 (about $5,900 USD)
  • an Italy 1821 Parma 40 Lire graded NGC MS 61 (lot 2) with a starting price of €5,000 (about $5,900 USD)
  • an Italy 1827 Florence 80 Fiorini graded NGC MS 61 (lot 58) with a starting price of €4,500 (about $5,300 USD)
  • an Italy (1442-58) Naples 1.5 Ducat graded NGC MS 63 (lot 93) with a starting price of €4,500 (about $5,300 USD)
  • an Italy (1464-71) Papal States Ducat graded NGC MS 66 (lot 123) with a starting price of €4,500 (about $5,300 USD)
