Nomisma Sale Features Rare Italian Coins Certified by NGC

Three rare Italian coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are the top lots in an upcoming sale presented by Nomisma SpA, a respected numismatics firm based in San Marino. Bidding is already underway for Auction 64, which concludes December 17-18, 2021.

The coin with the highest starting price in the sale is an Italy 1925R Gold Prova Silver Jubilee 100 Lire (lot 1257). These were struck to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the reign of King Victor Emmaneul III. Graded NGC MS 62, it has a starting price of €70,000 (about $79,000).

Another top coin in the sale, an Italy 1901R 5 Lire (lot 1292), shows a much-younger Victorio Emmanuel III. These were among the first coins issued in his name, as he had just succeeded his assassinated father in July 1900. Graded NGC MS 63, this coin has a starting price of €60,000 (about $67,000).

An Italy 1880R 100 Lire graded NGC MS 60 (lot 1204) shows Umberto I, the father of Victor Emmanuel III. From a mintage of fewer than 150, this coin has a starting price of €60,000 (about $67,000).
