The Stack's Bowers auction included some great rarities struck in the early years of the US Mint.

Nine rare US vintage coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®), including a 1797 Half Eagle, each realized six figures each in the Stack’s Bowers Rarities Night Baltimore Auction. The sale took place November 23, 2021.

The 1797 Small Eagle Half Eagle of the 15-star variety, which is graded NGC MS 60 (lot 4104), was one of the top coins in the sale, realizing $168,000. Not only did it survive for more than two centuries, but this particular example is also the only Mint State one in the NGC Census.
