4/15/2002 - In September, NCS became the OFFICIAL CONSERVATION SERVICE of NGC. Seeing the need for professional conservation services in the hobby, NGC closely monitored our efforts and the impressive results of our unique, tested and proven conservation treatments.

4/15/2002 - Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) has been in business for more than one year, but is not the first conservation service available to the numismatic community.

The American Numismatic Association offered conservation as one of its member services. This service was discontinued in March of 2002 when the ANA named NCS as their official conservation service.

2/27/2002 - Starting Friday March 1, Collectors' Society will introduce Numismatic trivia. Each Friday compete head-to-head for a variety of prizes. 2/27/2002 - Proof coins from 1936 to 1978 now eligible. Numismatic Guaranty Corporation has expanded its application of the star () designation for proof coins displaying exceptional eye appeal. This coveted designation is unique to NGC and identifies coins that are superior in appearance to more typical coins of the same grade.
